Astronauts Gene Cernan and Charlie Duke Speak

NASA astronauts Gene Cernan and Charlie Duke speak about their beliefs  in God after their experiences on the moon – what’s greater – walking on the moon or walking with Jesus…

Discipline, Not Punishment

4 In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. 5 And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons?

“My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord,
nor be weary when reproved by him.
6 For the Lord disciplines the one he loves,
and chastises every son whom he receives.”

7 It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? 8 If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. 9 Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live? 10 For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness. 11 For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it (Hebrews 12:4:11)

Common topics during these turbulent times. Our struggle against sin..what sin. Heb 12:3 speaks about opposition and hostility to Christ and in this case hostility to the Gospel. Many faithful servants of God in some countries have experienced much hostility and persecution for the Gospel. I was talking to a friend who said that in our pluralistic society, young Christian converts from other religion always face hostility and persecution from friends and family members. The challenge is to look at the suffering however painful and unpleasant it may seems, as God’s training to “share His holiness” and later to reap ” the peaceful fruit of righteousness”. We draw our encouragement from “Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God”. (Heb 12:2)

Why Our Local Churches Should Embrace Twittering

Of late, Twitter has caused such a stir in the world that it has suddenly become a outstanding tool for quick communication and news broadcasting. Many major media organizations have joined the bandwagon and those who are on Twitter are reading them faster and earlier. Similarly churches around the world are also embracing this technology to spread the Gospel. Here are some reasons why the church leaders in Anglican Diocese of West Malaysia should consider using it.

All these are good resources to review before church leaders plunge in the new technology bandwagon.

After A Long Break

Four months have passed I have not updated my blog. It’s not that I have been busy but was figuring what to do with it. Lately I have joined Twitter and have been glued to it. I have been quite busy updating my tweets of what is happening and what good news (..or bad) to share with people who follow me. I was also in the Facebook but find that to be uninteresting. Besides a little news about some friends, nothing much is happening there among the friends. So the switch to Twitter. Will update my blog again from now.

What is theology? Why is the study of theology important? These are some frequently asked questions found in the Christian Publication Foundation. More

Creative Bible Study

The Briefing Library: Factotum #6: Do-it-yourself-church.

A major part of most small group activity is the Bible reading and discussion. There are all sorts of ways this can be done—using pre-prepared studies, writing your own studies, or simply reading a passage and getting people to comment on it. In a DIY church, such a Bible discussion is likely to be an important part of the church’s teaching strategy.

New Blog for Logos

Logos Bible Software has set up a new blog for it’s Logos Bible Software. Many thank for the freebies on the Commentary for Matthew and Mark. Just in time for my PTC course on the gospel according to Mark.

Christianity Explored

Rico Tice, author and associate minister at All Souls Church was in KL to promote Christianity Explored at a serminar organized by PJ Gospel Hall. It was good to see 190 participants from 31 churches attending the first  conference of its kind in Malaysia.  Two churches in KL have used this tool instead of the Alpha Course to reach out to unchurch people for the simple reason that Christianity Explored is about the Good News of Jesus Christ: Who is Jesus, What is Mission, and What is Calling. In short it is about his identity, mission and call. Unlike Alpha, it allows the Bible to reveal to the unchurch who was Jesus and demand him or her to make a decision for or against Jesus.  Great conference.
